In the early days of television, there were just four television networks that broadcast programming into American homes. TV signals could only be received in a “line of sight” from the transmitting antenna due to the frequencies allotted to television broadcast. In 1948, the people living in a remote Pennsylvania valley put antennas on hills and ran cables to their houses.
